Call for host sites

It has now been decided to call for host countries and host organizations for the 3RINCs to be held in March 2027. A draft outline of the call for applications is presented below. This is only a proposal based on past experience of hosting the event, and in practice, the local organizers and the international secretariat will work together, as appropriate, to proceed. Applications are also invited from organizations interested in hosting the conference in 2027 and beyond.

・Dates: mid-March 2027.

・Venue: a university, hotel or other location capable of holding a conference for 300 people. The conference will also include an opening, poster exhibition and reception (which can be held in a separate venue).

・Local organizers: set up an organizing committee locally and assign roles. It could be a joint executive committee of several local organizations.

・Conference planning and organization: the local organizer takes the lead in planning and organizing keynote speeches, special sessions, general sessions, receptions, technical tours, etc.

・Participation fees: may follow existing fees or may be set new ones. Local participation fees can also be changed.

・Sponsorship and subsidies: negotiated in collaboration with the local organizers and the international secretariat.

・Income and expenditure: to be planned and managed by the local organizers. It should be noted that in some previous 3RINCs, the International Secretariat has provided the local organizers with a reserve fund of approximately JPY 1 million, and after the event an equivalent amount has been forwarded to the next host country.

How to apply

Countries and organizations interested in hosting the event are invited to send to the International Secretariat, by the middle of February 2026, a proposal for the timing and location of the event and an outline of the local organizers (including an outline of the lead organization and CV of the chairperson and person in charge of the organizing committee). Interviews, etc. will then be conducted.

How the venue is determined

The decision will be made by the international secretariat and key members from 3RINCs international society after confirming the capacity to host the event and after consultation with those who have hosted the event in the past. Even if the host country is not selected in March 2027, it may be a candidate for the host country in 2028 or later.

The international secretariat of 3RINCs

The Japan Society of Material Cycles and Waste Management (JSMCWM) has acted as the international secretariat for 3RINCs since the first event. The role of the secretariat is to help select host cities, plan the international program, manage finances—including finding and securing sponsors—and work closely with local organizers. It is currently coordinating the application process for host cities for 3RINCs2027
